Lampre-ISD have confirmed their team of riders for this weekend’s Vuelta a Espana with hopes of success in the summit finishes.
After the Clasica de San Sebastian, the Italian team will stay in Pais Vasco in order to take part in the start of Vuelta in Pamplona.
The team will be directed by Fabrizio Bontempi, Sandro Lerici and Maurizio Piovani, with the technical direction by Roberto Damiani.
Lampre-ISD aim to be very competitive in the mountain stages and in the six summit finishes, thanks to Damiano Cunego (winner of two stages in the 2009 edition), Colombian Winner Anacona, Poland’s Przemyslaw Niemiec, Marco Marzano and Morris Possoni.
Davide Cimolai and Davide Viganò will have their chances for the blue-fuchsia squad in the sprints, which organisers think could be six.
The roles of duo Denys Kostyuk and Oleksandr Kvachuk should also be important, as the Ukrainian duo focus their attention on the breakaways and on setting the pace of the team in the approaches of the climbs and of the sprints.
The Vuelta runs from August 18 through to September 9.
Full squad: Winner Andrew Anacona Gomez, Davide Cimolai, Damiano Cunego, Denys Kostyuk, Oleksandr Kvachuk, Marco Marzano, Przemyslaw Niemiec, Morris Possoni and Davide Viganò
