Liège-Bastogne-Liège preview: the date, time, route, odds and TV schedule

The curtain will be brought down on the Spring Classics in style when the climbers show off in Liège-Bastogne-Liège.

Known as La Doyenne this is a gruelling 258 kilometer test of short, sharp ascents, with the likes of three-time winner Alejandro Valverde expected to shine.

The 2017 Liège-Bastogne-Liège will take place on Sunday 23 April.

Think Belgium is flat? Think again. There are climbs aplenty over the 258km course, with the peaks arriving at such a frequency in the final third of the race that the leading pack are almost certain to be whittled down to a small number.

It’s been suggested that Liege-Bastogne-Liege’s total climbing is on a par with the hardest days on the Tour de France and the 2017 edition will be no different. It's not one for the faint-hearted, but should provide barrel-loads of entertainment.

Eurosport, the home of cycling, will be covering the race live on Eurosport 2 and Eurosport Player.
