Nairo Quintana takes stage five at Tirreno-Adriatico

Nairo Quintana (Movistar) wrestled control of Tirreno-Adriatico after surging to stage five victory in heavy snow.

The Colombian launched a devastating attack with five kilometres remaining to triumph by 41 seconds and climb into the overall lead.
Bauke Mollema (Trek Factory Racing) finished in second, with Joaquim Rodriguez (Katusha) heading a six-strong pack to take third.
“I’m very happy. Getting the first win of the year in this way fills me with hope,” said Quintana.
Overnight leader Wout Poels slipped to 10th in the general classification after finishing over a minute adrift.
