Olympic team pursuit champion Archibald had already proved with her performances over the previous days in Paris – silver in the elimination race and then gold in Friday's individual pursuit – that there was no sign of any Rio hangover.
And she continued that run on Saturday in the newly formatted omnium, taking over the crown which has been won by absent teammate Laura Kenny for the past three years.
Archibald crossed the line first in the opening scratch race after 30 laps of racing but sat fifth overall after four riders took a lap during the race.
She stepped things up a notch in the tempo race, taking an early lap to gain four valuable points as well as four intermediate sprint points.
It was then time for the third discipline – the elimination race – and, having won silver in the event earlier in the Championships, Archibald once again showed her tactical prowess to blow away the field and put her in pole position going into the final points race.
The Brit's nearest rivals were Lotte Kopecky of Belgium and Dutch rider Kirsten Wild but Archibald managed to keep them at bay in a tense ride to finish the four-race event on 141 points.
Elsewhere on Saturday, Ollie Wood finished just outside the medals in the men's points race in fourth after Raman Ramanau made a late move to snatch the podium spot by three points.
In the men's individual pursuit, Mark Stewart finished 13th with Matt Bostock 22nd while Rachel James was seventh fastest in the women's sprint with teammate Ellie Richardson 12th.
