Richie Porte led a superb Team Sky one-two during stage four of Paris-Nice, with Michal Kwiatkowski taking the overall lead.
It was a splendid ride from Porte and team-mate Geraint Thomas during the big mountain stage from Varennes-sur-Allier to the summit of Croix de Chaubouret, as the pair flew clear of the race favourites in the final two kilometres.
Etixx - Quick-Step rider Kwiatkowski produced a solid solo chase, finishing eight seconds behind the leader but reclaimed the overall lead, with stage four winner Porte just one second back.
Orica GreenEdge's Michael Matthews, who led overnight, was a casualty of the extremely challenging final ascent.
