Tour of Flanders organisers have announced the riders will not have to scale the infamous Koppenberg climb during next year's race.
The route for the 2007 race, which will be staged on April 8 was made public in Oudenaarde.
This year just eight cyclists were still on their bikes at the top of the climb despite numerous road surface improvements having been made in order to minimise risk of injury.
In 1987, Denmark's Jesper Skibby fell on the climb, and his bike was crushed by the official car that was following him.
Organisers then left out the climb for the next 15 years, though it made a return in 2002.
