After the cycling successes of London 2012, Britain have showed glimpses of their prowess with a second place overall finish in the winter-long UCI Track Cycling World Cup.
And with the Track Cycling World Championships coming up in Paris next month there is plenty to fight for in 2015.
Last year's Championships in Cali, Colombia, saw Great Britain finish fourth in the medal table with two golds, a silver, and two bronzes.
It was a disappointing haul for the team who, one year prior, had sat atop the standings.
But this year will be different, according to Sutton who is excited by the talent in the ranks.
"We will be better than we were last year for sure," he told British Cycling.
"Have we got the talent? I'm totally convinced we have.
"But I think it's like every other Games - we've gone through that lull, that period and if you asked us are we in the right place at this moment in time I would say 'yes'.
"We're going to be up for the fight but don't ask me a medal target, don't ask me what we're going to do.
"We're going to go there and be the best we can be. We're going to come away, we're going to strip everything back, we're going to look at it all and then look how we move forward again from there."
