Spain's Joaquim Rodriguez wins Tour of the Basque Country

Spain's Joaquim Rodriguez claimed overall victory in the Tour of the Basque Country, setting the second fastest time in the final time trial.

Rodriguez had already won stages three and four, and prior to the final stage was level with Sergio Henao.

But the Katusha rider was quicker by 13 seconds on the 18.3km stretch through Aia, and finished four seconds behind stage winner Tom Dumoulin, who won in 28min 46secs.

Ion Izagirre finished third, with Henao was fourth on the day to secure second place in the general classification.

Izagirre's time was also enough to move him above pre-race favourite Nairo Quintana into third overall, with the Giro d'Italia winner fourth.
