Laura Kraut’s 2008 Olympic team gold medal winning partner Cedric is retiring. The World No.19-ranked rider made the announcement about her 19-year-old grey Holsteiner gelding this week, saying:
“Cedric has been the horse of a lifetime for me…. He’s been amazing, and I think I’ll never have another horse like him.”
Kraut is the partner of 2016 British Olympic Champion Nick Skelton and spends much of her time in Europe, where Cedric has won Grand Prix at Chantilly and Valkenswaard and was part of a Nations Cup squad at Rotterdam. Over the course of his long career with Kraut, Cedric has won more than $2 million, and had 81 clear and 45 double-clear rounds (knocking down no obstacles).
His retirement ceremony is scheduled to take place in Wellington, Florida on Friday prior to the Nations Cup there.
