Alexey Lukyanuk completed a sweep of the afternoon stages on day two of the CNP ASFALISTIKI Cyprus Rally by winning the Nicosia superspecial, increasing his lead of the FIA European Rally Championship finale.
The superspecial stage, crossing through the capital city's United Nations-controlled buffer zone between the Greek Cypriot and Turkish areas, was aired live on television by Cypriot national broadcaster CYBC.
Over the 5.98-kilometre test - which like most stages on the event featured both gravel and asphalt - Lukyanuk was 4.7 seconds quicker than anyone else. The Russian will take a lead of 1m35.5s in the final day's four stages.
Ralfs Sirmacis was second fastest and 2.3s quicker than Marijan Griebel, but is 41.6s behind the ERC Junior champion overnight.
