Athanassoulas targets historic home ERC victory with ŠKODA

Lambros Athanassoulas will be aiming to be the first Greek to win the Acropolis Rally since Aris Vovos in 1995 when he lines up for the start in Lamia later this week.

Athanassoulas will be driving a ŠKODA Fabia R5 run by the renowned Motorsport Italia team: reigning Production champions on the World Rally Championship with Italian driver Max Rendina.
If Athanassoulas succeeds in his Acropolis mission, it will be especially satisfying as he carries the colours of the Lascaris Foundation, which aims to put Greek athletes on the map.
“Even though there’s a financial crisis, there are organisations that support the efforts of Greek athletes to distinguish themselves internationally. I thank them very much for giving us the opportunity to fight under the best possible conditions. After last year's Acropolis Rally and our participation in January on Rallye Monte-Carlo, we are more familiar with the Fabia and we hope for a good result.”
Last year, Athanassoulas was third on the Acropolis. Now he aims for the next step up.
