FIA European Rally Championship aces Nasser Al-Attiyah and Nikolay Gryazin were separated by 0.1s as the Cyprus Rally got underway with the Kalo Chorio stage this morning.
Measuring 21.66 kilometres, the stage provided a tough start to the day with Murat Bostanci forced to stop to change a punctured tyre and Bruno Magalhães losing considerable time following the Castrol Ford Team Turkey driver in heavy dust.
Double European champion Kajetan Kajetanowicz was also unhappy at the completion of the run, which he tackled sixth on the road following his puncture on Friday’s Qualifying Stage. “It’s absolutely slippery,” said the LOTOS Rally Team star. “I’m still cleaning the road so what can we do, I’m angry. We need to keep concentration but I don’t trust my pacenotes in some corners.”
