Kajetan Kajetanowicz is expecting a “huge challenge” when bids to hold his FIA European Rally Championship title lead in Italy.
The double champion joins the bulk of his rivals in making his Rally di Roma Capitale debut and is certain the all-asphalt event from 14-17 September will be far from easy to master in his LOTOS Rally Team Ford Fiesta R5.

“A new rally means a huge challenge and we are excited,” said the Pole. “I have always wanted to compete in Italy because there are unique parts of asphalt roads which you cannot find in any other championship rounds. On top of that the field is very strong and tight – no less than 15 European champions hail from this country. I am looking forward to this start with good dose of optimism. I have excellent team and car and thanks to them we are leading the championship.”

Despite his 23-point title advantage, Kajetanowicz is not carried away as he bids to become the first driver in history to win the coveted ERC title three years running.

“Key moments await us, we have to stay focused and prepare ourselves perfectly,” he added. “I feel great support of my fans who believe in achieving this record-breaking success. It adds some speed and self-belief in our fight for third consecutive championship title.”
