Kajetan Kajetanowicz will return to the Cyprus Rally when the FIA European Rally Championship counter resumes on Sunday morning.
The double ERC champion crashed out on today’s sixth stage but is set to restart on leg two following repairs to his LOTOS Rally Team Ford Fiesta R5.

Having won the SEAJETS Acropolis Rally last month, the Polish driver was aiming to score his second successive victory of 2017 only to crash out on the same right-hand corner where Murat Bostanci and title leader Bruno Magalhães also hit trouble shortly afterwards.

“Our job is beautiful although sometimes we go from one extreme to another,” said Kajetanowicz. “Two weeks ago we enjoyed beautiful moments, winning the Acropolis Rally. Before coming to Cyprus I had known that this would be a huge challenge. We have good pace this season but it is just not possible to foresee everything at such high level. I would like to thank my team for their support and the same goes to our fans and partners. You can be sure that I will never give up. Tomorrow we are back in fight.”

Kajetanowicz will be aiming to score maximum leg bonus points on Sunday as he bids to close the gap to Magalhães in the ERC standings. Magalhães, who leads the championship by 21 points, is unlikely to restart.
