The final round of the 2017 FIA European Rally Championship will be slightly shorter than originally planned after organisers tweaked the route following heavy rain.
Scheduled to cover 204.22 competitive kilometres, the fifth edition of Rally Liepāja will now run over a timed distance of 157.28 kilometres after SS2, SS5 and SS10/SS13 were reduced in length.
A statement from the event organisers read: “Intensive rain ahead of Rally Liepāja has deteriorated the surface quality of special stage roads that void the possibility to ensure safe running of the competition. In total three stages has been reduced in distance – SS2, SS5 and SS10/13. The total competitive special stage distance has been reduced from 204.22 kilometres to 157.28.”
The battle for ERC glory begins with the 11.49-kilometre OPTIBET stage from 10h00 local time. Clickhereto review the revised itinerary.
