Winter cheers for ERC stars

Several drivers with FIA European Rally Championship experience were on top form as the rallying season gathered momentum at the weekend.
In Latvia, Harri Rovanperä (pictured) won Rally Alūksne, one place ahead of ERC Junior graduate and fellow ŠKODA Fabia R5 driver Nikolay Gryazin. ERC Junior U27 aspirant Mārtiņš Sesks took fourth with multiple ERC event winner Ralfs Sirmacis fifth on a rare outing in a R4-specification Mitsubishi Lancer.

Over in Norway, Frank Tore Larsen, who tackled two ERC events in 2016, came within 15.1s of beating Eyvind Brynildsen to Sigdalsrally victory, while in Romania Valentin Porcisteanu, an ERC class podium finisher in the past, won the Winter Rally Covasna.

The 2017 ERC season is go from 30 March-1 April with the Azores Airlines Rallye.
