Double Olympic silver medallist Patrick Chan showed his class to produce a flawless free skate to win the men's event at the Grand Prix of Figure Skating Cup of China in Beijing on Saturday.

The Canadian had been lying down in third after Friday's short program but hit back in style 24 hours later with a routine that scored 196.31 from the judges.

That was almost a full 14 points clear of his nearest rival and short program winner Boyang Jin and saw Chan finish with a combined score of 279.72 for victory.

Home favourite Jin was second after his free skate score of 182.37 gave him an overall score of 278.54 with Sergei Voronov of Russia third with 243.76.

The ladies title went the way of Elena Radionova of Russia who finished with a total of 205.90 after scoring 135.15 for her free skate.
