Duhamel and Radford give home Skate Canada crowd something to cheer

Reigning world champions Meagan Duhamel and Eric Radford gave the home crowd plenty to shout about as they took the lead in the pairs short program at Skate Canada International.

Skate Canada International is the second of six events of the Grand Prix of Figure Skating 2015/2016 series, and after sitting out the opener in America Duhamel and Radford were eager to make up for lost time.
And the Canadians did exactly that, scoring 72.46 points to take a substantial lead over second-placed Russians Evgenia Tarasova and Vladimir Morosov, while their compatriots Kirsten Moore-Towers and Michael Marinaro are third.
The home crowd had plenty to celebrate from the first event as Canadians Kaitlyn Weaver and Andrew Poje took the lead in the short dance with a season's best score of 68.00.
They are two points ahead of Americans Maia and Alex Shibutani, while Russians Ekaterina Bobrova and Dmitri Soloviev are third on 64.38.
American Ashley Wagner leads the ladies after the short program with a new personal best score of 70.73 points, with Japanese duo Yuka Nagai and Kanako Murakami second and third respectively.
And in the men's competition, Daisuke Murakami of Japan scored 80.88 points to edge out Canadian Patrick Chan for the lead.
Chan is just 0.07 points behind in second, while American Adam Rippon sits third.
