The Eurosport-L’Equipe 21 agreement will guarantee the FIM EWC endurance world championship bigger audiences and enhanced visibility in France. L’Equipe 21 will kick off its broadcasts with a 48-minute programme of ‘highlights’ of the 24 Heures Motos – the first round of the FIM EWC at Le Mans. Subsequently, L’Equipe 21 will offer live coverage of all the races, starting with the Portimão 12 Hours on 11 June.
François Ribeiro, head of Eurosport Events, promoter of the FIM EWC
“France is prime territory for the Endurance world championship, hosting two major races – the 24 Heures Motos at Le Mans and the Bol d’Or at the Paul Ricard circuit. French teams and riders dominate the EWC, and have written some of the finest pages in the history of the championship. Last season, as promoter of the FIM EWC, Eurosport Events offered comprehensive coverage of the championship on Eurosport France. This deal with L’Equipe 21 will ensure it gets an even wider audience, and round off Eurosport’s media coverage setup. It’s very good news; the FIM EWC is experiencing a strong upward trend”.
Arnaud De Courcelles, director of the L’Equipe Group’s TV division“Free-to-air broadcasting of the endurance world championship is an excellent piece of news for sports fans. This agreement with Eurosport Events will make it possible to boost coverage of the event and reach a wide audience. L’Equipe 21 offers top-quality motor sport programming, and we are proud to enhance our offer by becoming the showcase for endurance racing in France”.
