Five hours into the race on the Slovakia Ring, Yamaha Viltaïs Experiences is in a position to scoop both the race win and the FIM EWC World Cup. Moto Ain CRT’s crash has turned things upside down in the Superstock class.
Moto Ain CRT, the FIM Superstock World Cup standings topper, had powered into the lead in the Superstock class at the 8 Hours of Slovakia Ring and looked to be just a hair’s breadth away from the 2016-2017 World Cup victory. The race took a dramatic twist at around 5pm, when Christoffer Bergmann suffered a spectacular crash. The badly damaged Yamaha 96 returned to the track well over a quarter of an hour later to start lapping beyond 20th place.
The race set-up at 6pm would give Yamaha Viltaïs Experiences the Superstock win and the World Cup, just ahead of Moto Ain CRT and Tati Team Beaujolais Racing.
