Yamaha in the spotlight

Yamaha Motor Racing presented its official teams for 2017 at the Movistar Yamaha MotoGP headquarters in Milan earlier today. The spotlight was on the two endurance squads – GMT94 Yamaha and YART Yamaha Official EWC Team.
YART Yamaha Official EWC Team created a stir when it introduced its new riders and announced a switch to Bridgestone. The Austrian team managed by Mandy Kainz presented an impressive line-up: German rider Max Neukirchner and his countryman Marvin Fritz (the 2016 Superbike IDM 2016 champion), together with Australian rider Broc Parkes and Kohta Nozane from Japan (the young Yamaha test rider was involved in the development of the YZF-R1).
Bridgestone ties up with YART Yamaha Official EWC Team
YART Yamaha Official EWC Team boasts another major asset: Bridgestone. Yamaha Factory et YART Yamaha Official EWC Team have signed a long-term development agreement with the Japanese tyre manufacturer. YART Yamaha Official EWC Team will get direct support from Bridgestone Japan.
The GMT94 Yamaha bikes will still be Dunlop-shod. The French team managed by Christophe Guyot had presented its rider line-up in late 2016, and announced the arrival of MotoGP rider Mike di Meglio (the GP125 world champion) to replace Lucas Mahias, who has joined factory-backed World SuperSport team GRT Yamaha. David Checa, Niccolò Canepa and Mike Di Meglio are GMT94 Yamaha’s new rider trio, and they’re well equipped to get the team back up to speed after its 9th-place finish at the Bol d’Or.
