Aberdeen won't be sidetracked by title talk - Ash Taylor

The Dons revived the Ladbrokes Premiership title race with a 2-1 win over Celtic on Wednesday night.

They can now move level on points with the leaders if they beat St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park on Saturday.

Despite the Perth side going seven games without a win, that will be no easy feat given Saints won 5-1 at Pittodrie in October while Aberdeen topped the table.

And Taylor knows they need to concentrate fully on the task in hand amid the championship hype sparked by their midweek victory.

"It makes for an exciting end to the season but we just wanted to make progress," the centre-back said.

"We didn't manage to beat Celtic last season and we have done it a couple of times this season, and it shows the progress we are making. We want to continue to make that progress.

"The expectation rises every time you win a game. We are expected to win nowadays because of the performances we are putting in and the type of lads we are and the group we have got. We have just got to keep putting in the performances."

Taylor will not dwell on their victory over Celtic and was even frustrated that he could not keep a clean sheet after Leigh Griffiths hit a late goal for the visitors.

"As soon as the game finished, our focus was straight on St Johnstone," he added. "That's the important game now and it won't mean anything if we can't get a result tomorrow.

"It was a good result for us but we have moved on to St Johnstone now. The changing room is confident and we are excited for the next game."
