Sadio Mane missed the decisive penalty in a shootout to send favourites Senegal tumbling out of the Africa Cup of Nations.
After the first eight spot kicks were all scored, the Liverpool forward saw his effort straight down the middle saved by Fabrice Ondoa before Vincent Aboubakar emphatically dispatched his penalty into the top corner to send Cameroon through to the semi-finals.
Senegal had dominated regulation time but struggled to create any clear-cut chances as Cameroon were content to sit deep and looked to be playing for penalties from the outset.
Mame Biram Diouf and Cheikhou Kouyate squandered Senegal’s best chances, both shooting over, and in the end they had goalkeeper Abdoulaye Diallo to thank for the game going to penalties as he made a smart save to deny Aboubakar in extra time.
Mane looked distraught at the end and had to helped off the field by manager Aliou Cisse, who famously missed the decisive penalty for Senegal against the same opposition in the 2002 Africa Cup of Nations final.
Cameroon will face either Ghana or DR Congo in the same stadium on Thursday.

TALKING POINT

Did the favourites tag weigh heavy on Senegal? Having topped Group B and been the most impressive team of the tournament for far, Senegal looked short of ideas and nothing like a team you’d expect to be lifting a trophy next weekend. They moved the ball too slowly, couldn’t get their star man Mane into the game and he then choked in the shootout. It's amazing to think that for all of the talented players that they've produced over the years they've only been to one final.

MAN OF THE MATCH

Keita Balde Diao (Senegal): Pace, strength, a great first touch and plenty of tricks, Keita has all the ingredients to be a superstar. Not everything he tried came off but he looked the most dangerous player on the pitch and should have had a penalty in the second half. With him and Mane on the wings, at least the future looks bright.

54’ – SAVE! Mane gets free down the right and his dinked cross is met by Diouf but he heads straight at Ondoa who saves and then collects at the second attempt under pressure.

PENALTY SAVE! Mane steps up with the scores level at 4-4 and it's saved! Not far from the middle and Ondoa saves one-handed! If Cameroon score next, they're through!
