Arsene Wenger refuses to rise to Jose Mourinho's spending jibes

Mourinho had earlier suggested that if Wenger's total spending were totalled up, the Arsenal squad should be challenging for silverware at the top of the table.

Wenger did not answer directly but merely said: "One day you will look at the players we have developed here compared to the spending of other clubs and you will be surprised. I get different reproaches - that I don’t spend enough then I spend too much. I let other people talk."

Wenger and Mourinho have clashed repeatedly, including a spat on the touchline in a Premier League game last season.
