It had been suggested the 38-year-old Brazil legend could make a playing comeback with Fort Lauderdale Strikers, the club he became a part owner of in December.
However, the former Barcelona, Inter Milan and Real Madrid striker poured cold water over the claims, tweeting that he knows nothing about the "#RonaldoReturns" hashtag.
"There's a story going round that I am making a comeback, there's even a hashtag #RonaldoVoltou," Ronaldo said. "This story about #RonaldoVoltou is just nonsense from the Twitter crowd."
Ronaldo, who last played with Brazilian club Corinthians in 2011, hinted at a return to action at a press conference in January that unveiled his association with Fort Lauderdale.
"I will train a lot, and if the coach needs me, maybe return to playing," he told journalists. “It's easy to get in shape - you just have to train. To play a soccer game you have to be in very good shape so I will try.”

We’re a little disappointed that we’re to be denied the nostalgic return of El Fenomeno, one of the greatest talents ever to grace the game. But it was never really going to happen, was it? We’ll just have to be happy with Ronaldo, the club owner, not Ronaldo the comeback king.
