Bayern Munich are set for a nervous start to the season after Arjen Robben picked up an injury a week after fellow star midfielder Franck Ribery.
Robben has been ruled out of Bayern's first competitive fixture of the season - a German Cup clash at second division Eintracht Braunschweig on August 1 - after sustaining an ankle injury in the Audi Cup clash with Italian champions Milan.
However, the Netherlands international has undergone an MRI scan, the results of which have raised hopes that he will recover in time to face Borussia Moenchengladbach in Bayern's first Bundesliga clash of the season on August 7.
"The injury is not so bad. It is a capsule injury. There is a small crack. We now look from day to day for what happens next," the 27-year-old said.
Bayern coach Jupp Heynckes will already have to do without Ribery for that match after he sustained an ankle injury at the weekend. The France international is now wearing a cast in order to quicken his recovery.
