Arjen Robben magnificent as Bayern smash EIGHT past Hamburg

Bayern Munich turned on the style to put eight goals past a hapless Hamburg at the Allianz Arena.

Hamburg had a goal ruled out inside the first two minutes before a Thomas Mueller penalty put the home side ahead.

Mario Goetze tapped in a second and Arjen Robben scored a wonderful solo goal to give Bayern a comfortable 3-0 lead at the break.

Robben added a fourth two minutes into the second half before Muller scored a beauty from the edge of the box for 5-0.

Robert Lewandowski tapped in a minute later and Franck Ribery came off the bench to steer in a seventh. Goetze put the icing on the cake with a fine late drive to ensure Bayern’s biggest win of the season.

2’ CHALKED OFF! Olic puts the ball into the net for Hamburg but, somewhat bizarrely, it's ruled out for a foul on Goetze moments before. If anything, Goetze committed the foul and Hamburg can feel aggrieved about that call.

55’ GOAL! Bayern Munich 5-0 Hamburg - Muller makes it five! There's no stopping Bayern today. Schweinsteiger wins the ball in midfield and lets Muller take over, and the striker curls a wonderful shot into the corner from 20 yards.

56’ GOAL! Bayern Munich 6-0 Hamburg - Lewandowski makes it six! Muller turns creater and crosses for the striker, who nets his first Bayern goal in five games from close range, tapping into the empty net.

63’ BAD CALL! Oh dear. Hamburg put the ball into the net through Rudnev, but he's WRONGLY flagged offside. Clearly level and Hamburg denied with minor satisfaction of a consolatory goal.

69’ GOAL! Bayern Munich 7-0 Hamburg - Ribery makes it 7-0! Lewandowski's shot is saved by Drobny but only as far as Ribery, who steers the rebound into the bottom corner.

88’ GOAL! Bayern Munich 8-0 Hamburg - Goetze scores a firecracker! He drills the ball into the far corner in explosive style to make it 8-0! EIGHT!

This is the first time Bayern have scored eight this season. Their previous biggest win was 7-1 against Roma.

Robben is the top scorer in the Bundesliga this season, with 14 goals.

Lewandowski’s goal was his first for Bayern in five games. His last goal had been against Augsburg on December 13th.

TALKING POINT – When will Bayern score ten? While Bayern were ruthless in the second half, they created enough chances to hit double figures. If Lewandowski can find the form that earned him the move to Bayern in the first place, the Bundesliga champions will have an even more potent attack. You wouldn’t bet against them scoring ten sometime.

Arjen Robben (Bayern Munich) – Could take your pick from Goetze, Muller or Robben, but the Dutchman just takes it for a sensational all round performance. Scored two, assisted one, and could have had more.
