The news came on Thursday when the club posted a video of the players preparing to travel to Stuttgart for their game on Friday evening.
One fan questioned where 28-year-old Aubameyang was and club responded that he had been suspended for “disciplinary reasons.”
The club did not give any further details or an indication as to how long the forward will be suspended for.
A report from German publication Bild stated that when given time off over the international break he went to Barcelona to visit former team-mate Ousmane Dembele.
Bild later changed their story to suggest that instead Aubameyang had been suspended he had missed several training sessions.
Aubameyang was suspended last November by the club for what then-manager Thomas Tuchel described as an “internal issue.”
Dortmund have won just one of their last seven and Aubameyang hasn’t scored since October 14.
