Bate Borisov and Bayer Leverkusen’s hopes of reaching the knockout phase of the Champions League were both diminished after a 1-1 draw in Belarus.
A goalkeeping howler from Berndt Leno saw Bate ahead inside two minutes when Mikhail Gordeichuk’s shot squirmed underneath him.
But Leverkusen responded well and Javier Hernandez had a huge penalty claim waved away before seeing his point blank shot saved by Sergey Chernik.
Another bizarre goal saw Admir Mehmedi’s cross sneak in at the far post as Bayer drew level but neither side could force a winner.
The result means that Barcelona qualify before their match with Roma, while victory for the Italians would send both Bate and Bayer out.

KEY MOMENTS

2’ – GOAL! Bate 1-0 Bayer. It’s an absolute howler from Leno, who lets Gordeichuk’s shot from just inside the box squirm underneath him and into the back of the net.

43’ – PENALTY SHOUT! Hernandez goes down in the box under a challenge from Milunovic and if there was any contact, that should have been given.
44’ – CHANCE HERNANDEZ! Mehmedi crosses into the path of the in-form striker but he hits it straight at Chernik from close range. Good save but he should have scored.
68’ – GOAL! Bate 1-1 Bayer. It’s another bizarre goal as Mehmedi’s cross, meant for Bellerabi at the far post, sneaks in.

KEY STATS

BATE Borisov's Mikhail Gordeychuk scored after one minute and eight seconds, the fastest CL goal this season.

TALKING POINT

Penalty or no penalty? Hernandez looked to have won Bayer a penalty just before the break. If he dived, it was a yellow. Contact and it was a penalty. Neither was given. Oh, and Leno’s absolute clanger!

MAN OF THE MATCH

Karim Bellerabi (Leverkusen): A real handful with his marauding runs down the flank and created enough chances for Leverkusen to win it.
