The former Manchester United duo had chances but could not take them on debut as the Turkish team and Ukrainian side reached a stalemate.
Portugal winger Nani struck a low shot that was saved by Andriy Pyatov early on and Dutchman Van Persie, who came on with 20 minutes remaining as a substitute, could not score with a volley with two minutes of the match remaining.
Meanwhile, Sparta Prague twice came from a goal down to draw with CSKA in Moscow. Alan Dzagoev gave the home side a 14th-minute lead but Nigerian striker Kehinde Fatai hit back a minute later.
Zoran Tosic calmly finished to regain the lead early in the second period but four minutes later Ladislav Krejci scored to give the Czech side valuable away goals.
Monaco, who were third in Ligue 1 last season, beat Young Boys 3-1. Croatian Mario Pasalic, the young midfielder on loan from Chelsea, got on the scoresheet along with Layvin Kurzawa and Guido Carrillo. Raphaël Nuzzolo scored for the Swiss hosts.
