Five Truths from Tuesday's Champions League action with Barcelona suffering a massive shock at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain in Paris.

MSN all go missing

Glenn Hoddle made a real point of saying that the scariest thing about Barcelona's three-pronged attack of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar was that one of the trio may go missing in any one game, but never all three. Well, he was wrong. Comprehensively wrong. MSN all went missing on the biggest stage against PSG in Paris. Somehow, all three endured torrid evenings.
With a strikeforce as prolific, talented and creative as the three Barcelona superstars it did seem almost impossible for not one of them to deliver in a big game, but PSG were the lucky - or perhaps deserved, depending on your viewpoint - recipients of such an evening as Messi, Suarez and Neymar all flopped very badly indeed. All three will need to be back at their best if the Catalan giants are to have any hope of turning this debacle around at the Camp Nou.

Barcelona in big trouble

The Catalan giants suffered their joint heaviest defeat in the competition, and look on the verge of a last-16 exit for the first time in a decade. Only Neymar and Marc-Andre ter Stegen will come out of the game with any credit and they will need something extraordinary to make the second leg interesting, never mind turn it around.
No side has ever overturned a 4-0 deficit from the first encounter and PSG don't look like a team that will capitulate. Many questions will be asked of these Barca players in the coming days and rightly so.

Will the real Aubameyang please stand up?

To say Dortmund’s talisman Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had an evening to forget as his side lost to Benfica in a Champions League last-16 tie would be a complete understatement. The usually reliable Gabon striker spurned a hat-trick of glorious opportunities, including a feeble penalty that he sent straight down the middle for Ederson to easily save. It proved to be his last contribution as Thomas Tuchel hooked his star forward for the remaining half an hour.
With 21 goals in 23 games, it’s difficult to criticise Aubameyang but his body language in Portugal suggests he simply does not want to play for Dortmund any longer and a move to Real Madrid in the summer may prove to be the best solution for both parties.

Arsenal needed Draxler

Poor Arsenal fans. The club get linked to top stars across Europe, Arsene Wenger doesn’t sign them, they star for rival clubs, then Wenger admits to having liked the player and held talks. That was almost exactly the case with Julian Draxler, and Gunners supporters had to sit through an evening of watching another one that got away shine in front of their eyes.
Draxler is not only creative and dynamic, but also incredibly direct. What Arsenal have long since needed was another player who could be decisive and ruthless in the final third, whether it be with a crucial pass from outside or a finish - and the midfielder put on a masterclass against Barcelona in just about every aspect of his game. Sorry Arsenal fans, but Draxler was the player you really needed.

This was a result for the ages

A couple from Angel Di Maria – his first a glorious free-kick – a fine finish from Draxler on his Champions League debut for the club and a fourth from Edinson Cavani condemned Barca to their heaviest defeat in the tournament. This will be remembered as much as 4-0 loss to Bayern Munich in the 2013 semi-finals, and the 4-0 dismantling by AC Milan in the 1994 European Cup final. This felt like a defeat for the ages.
It was momentous evening that probably rivalled Germany’s 7-1 gutting of Brazil in the World Cup semi-finals in 2014. Make no mistake about it, this night will be recalled in Parisian bars and cafes for year to comes over, the kind of win of folklore that goes down well over fine bottle of Bourgogne Pinot Noir. For Barca, it felt like film noir as their side disintegrated under the intense attacking heat of a ravenous home side.
