Rotherham have signed winger Jerome Thomas until the end of the season, subject to Football League and FA approval.
Thomas, 32, released by Crystal Palace in the summer, becomes new manager Neil Warnock's first signing at the club and the pair reunite having worked together at Selhurst Park.
"I have been training everyday and building my fitness up," Thomas told Rotherham's official website.
"The manager and Kevin (Blackwell) have come in and they wanted to get the deal done.
"I have signed until the end of the season and we all share the same common objective which is to try and keep the club in the Championship.
"Initially it looked as though I was going to the USA or Asia, but the opportunity arose to come and train here and to see if both parties were happy."
Thomas came through Arsenal's academy, but made only three first-team appearances before moving to Charlton in 2004.
He joined Portsmouth in 2008, spent four seasons at West Brom from 2009 and joined Palace on a free transfer in 2013. He has also had loan spells at QPR and Leeds.
