Highly-rated teenager Ivan Toney has signed for Newcastle United.
"I'm happy to be here and very excited," said Toney.
"The players here are a great standard and I can't wait to get going and show what I'm all about.
"Being a young lad who is scoring goals in the Football League was a great thing. Now I want to progress here and eventually do it in the Premier League."
Toney has made 60 appearances for the League Two club after making his debut at the age of 16. Last season he scored 13 goals in 29 starts, and Newcastle's football development manager Peter Beardsley suggested the player will have a big future.
"We have been very impressed with Ivan already," he said.
"He is a very good player, with great enthusiasm and a first-class attitude, and has all the attributes to have a bright future."
Northampton manager Chris Wilder had confirmed interest from Premier League and Championship clubs for Toney last week after he was left out of the squad for Saturday's 3-0 win at Brackley, and the 19-year-old has now completed his move.
