After more than 150 appearances over the course of two spells with the club, the 25-year-old is set to sever ties with Saints in order to move to south Wales.
Cork has grown frustrated with a lack of first-team opportunities at St Mary's and has told manager Ronald Koeman he will not be extending his contract past the end of the campaign.
The Saints boss admits there is "no chance" that the Chelsea academy graduate will stay, with a £3million move to Swansea now nearing completion.
"The latest news is that Jack is now in Swansea," Koeman said, having opened contract negotiations two months ago.
"I said before that the club offered him a very good contract but his feeling was not good to stay more time in the club.
"He likes to play more games, I can't guarantee players that.
"We have really a tough competition between our midfield players.
"Harry Reed is developing himself in a very good way and it's up to the player.
"He finished his contract this season and if he doesn't accept his contract then for the coach it's an easy question."
As fate would have it, Swansea arrive at St Mary's for a Premier League clash on Sunday - a match Cork will not feature in, whether his move is completed before then or not.
That was one of several transfer stories which dominated the pre-match press conference, with Koeman confirming no approach has been made for Nathaniel Clyne from Manchester United or anyone else.
The England right-back looks set to remain on the south coast for the remainder of the campaign and is likely to soon be joined by a new midfielder.
Benfica's Filip Djuricic, a Serbia international who spent the first half of the season on loan to Mainz, is one player Koeman is interested in, as is Tonny Vilhena at former club Feyenoord.
"We are interested in the player because that player is not happy in Feyenoord," he said of the latter. "He likes to play more and is interested in changing the club.
"I like the player, I believe in the qualities of the player, he's a young player who is 20 years old.
"It's one of the philosophies of the club to have young players and if I can help the player I like to do it."
On Djuricic, Koeman said: "I am interested in the player, he's good young player who can play in different positions, but I don't have any update at this moment.
"There's a good chance that one of the two players, and maybe both players [arriving]."
