The 21-year-old former Manchester City youth player, who signed a two-and-a-half-year deal with the Cumbrians in December 2013, made 42 appearances for the club and scored two goals, but has found himself surplus to requirements this season.
Curle told the club's official website, www.carlisleunited.co.uk: "This is an opportunity for him to get out there and further his career. He's not playing games here and he knows that it's a situation which isn't going to change quickly for him.
"I completely understand some people will disagree with this simply because of the ability he has. We've all seen what he can produce and I don't have any problem with the ability levels he has in him at all.
"He hasn't been able to develop his game in line with the way we want to play at this moment in time and he's found himself to be down the pecking order for a while now.
"He's at an age where he needs to be playing football. He has an opportunity now where he has no ties or strings attached, and he can go out and offer himself to those clubs he feels he wants to target, so that he can get to play the amount of football he wants to be playing."
