Paul Clement believes Derby are starting to see the best of Jacob Butterfield after the midfielder's match-winning display against Hull.
Two quality finishes from 25-year-old settled Friday's Sky Bet Championship contest in favour of the Rams, condemning the Tigers to a first home defeat of the season.
Butterfield has taken time to settle following his summer move from Huddersfield, but Derby manager Clement is pleased to see him now proving his worth.
"We're starting to see the best of him now and not when he first came in the door," Clement said, who compared the situation to the suspended fellow summer signing Bradley Johnson.
"It's good that (competition in midfield). Leading into the (Hull) game I was disappointed to lose Bradley, but I was fully confident that I had options.
"It's a squad effort and it's going to be a squad effort right to the very last game of the season."
