Eddie Howe urges Bournemouth to convert performances into points

Eddie Howe feels Bournemouth have deserved more from their recent performances.

The Cherries gave a good account of themselves against Manchester United in midweek but left Old Trafford with nothing to show for their efforts after Romelu Lukaku's goal separated the sides.

It is now five matches without a win for Bournemouth and manager Howe knows it is a streak they need to bring to a swift ending - although they next face a Liverpool side who have not lost in any competition since October 22.

Nevertheless, Howe has been buoyed by what he has seen from his charges over the last few weeks and is hopeful their fortunes will change soon.

He said in quotes on the club's official website: "In Wednesday's performance we were good in a lot of the game, I've been pleased with the majority of performances recently, we've not had the rewards but then that's the game.

"The game is about points, about winning. The demands are extreme so we're well aware of what we have to do, we have to try and get points against everyone; it's about maximising what we can get.

"I felt we deserved something in our last game, we had a real threat but it wasn't to be. Hopefully we'll get a better result on Sunday."

Liverpool's last trip to the Vitality Stadium 12 months ago was a memorable affair, with Bournemouth scoring three times inside the final quarter of an hour to snatch a 4-3 victory.

Bournemouth also scored late on to snatch a 2-2 draw at Anfield in March, but Howe is taking little comfort from last season's successes.

He said: "To get four points from them last year was good but they're a different team this year and will be extremely tough on Sunday."

Howe has no fresh injury concerns ahead of Sunday afternoon's fixture but could rotate those who have featured regularly, mindful of a busy festive period that sees Bournemouth play six times before New Year's Day.

He added: "We have a tough run of fixtures and we're still in the Carabao Cup, so the key is we have to make sure everyone can play at their best levels.

"I want the players to be fresh enough to perform, I will speak to the players concerned and see how they feel."
