SATURDAY MORNING’S BIG STORIES

1-Spain bumped to favourites after Turkey saunter
Bookies have promoted Spain to Euro 2016 favourites after their comprehensive 3-0 win over Turkey. With France and Germany unconvincing in their opening two games, Spain have now leapfrogged the fancied duo in the odds charts.
Incredibly, they were the first team to score three times at Euro 2016 – the 21st game of the tournament. The signs are promising for Vicente del Bosque's side following their World Cup debacle.
2-‘Sports terrorists’ mar Croatia v Czech Republic
Croatia fans who caused trouble during their team's Euro 2016 match against the Czech Republic on Friday were branded "sports terrorists" by coach Ante Cacic. The supporters threw flares on to the pitch and fought among themselves in one section of the Stade Geoffroy Guichard, forcing the Group D game to be interrupted for several minutes while officials and players appealed for calm.
"We were exposed to the terror of hooligans who have no place in sports arenas and I sincerely hope they will be identified and brought to justice," said Cacic.
They are sports terrorists. Unfortunately, they still exist and even enjoy some kind of support at home.

3-Belgium coach threatens wholesale changes
Belgium could make wholesale changes against Ireland as they seek to keep their tournament hopes alive, coach Marc Wilmots said. The Red Devils slumped to a harrowing 2-0 defeat in their opener against Italy, despite starting the tournament amongst the favourites.
"Tomorrow there will be between two and 10 changes. Only the goalkeeper is certain," he told reporters, refusing to confirm a starting place for playmaker Kevin de Bruyne, who suffered a light injury in training on Thursday. "He (De Bruyne) is ready but if he plays tomorrow, we will see."

ON THE GROUND

Ben Snowball, St-Etienne: There was an air of disappointment around Saint-Etienne in the aftermath of the 2-2 draw between Croatia and Czech Republic. A day that had started so jovially was soured by a handful of idiots. It should not tarnish every Croatian fan – the overwhelming majority I encountered on my street wanderings were in great spirits and not remotely interested in conflict.
