Danny Drinkwater and Andros Townsend both miss out on Euro 2016 with Roy Hodgson selecting Marcus Rashford and Daniel Sturridge in his 23-man squad.

Sturridge missed Friday's friendly against Australia, in which Rashford scored after less than three minutes into his international debut, but the Liverpool striker proved his fitness in a training session on Monday.

Hodgson chose to pick both strikers, who join captain Wayne Rooney, Jamie Vardy and Harry Kane in a five-man attack.
Having already picked only seven defenders, that meant Hodgson had to cull his midfield options, but he has named both Jordan Henderson and Jack Wilshere, who have been regaining their fitness levels following recent injuries.
Instead the axe has fallen on Fabian Delph - who had already been informed of his fate - Newcastle United winger Andros Townsend and Leicester City midfielder Danny Drinkwater.
Everton's Ross Barkley was also thought to be in danger but he has held onto his place - with Drinkwater particularly unlucky after playing a vital role in Leicester's shock title success and being named man of the match on his international debut against Netherlands in March.
Rashford's inclusion continues his remarkable rise. The 18-year-old only made his professional debut for Manchester United in February but scored twice on his debut against FC Midtjylland, twice on his Premier League debut against Arsenal and then just minutes into his international bow.

Drinkwater reacts

The Leicester midfielder wrote on Instagram: "Disappointed not to make the final 23! Would of been a fantastic experience to go to the euros as a player... But I'll be supporting the country like I always have! The seasons been a huge positive for me.. Going into next season as a premier league champion! Good luck to the lads... Bring it home"

Townsend reacts

While Townsend simply tweeted: "Obviously gutted to fall at the final hurdle but wishing the boys all the best of luck at Euro 2016 #ComeOnEngland."

Marcus Rashford celebrates with Raheem Sterling (2nd R), Jordan Henderson (C) and Danny Drinkwater (R) after scoring the first goal for England

Marcus Rashford make his debut for England Uner-20s two months ago and now he is going to the Euros. It's an incredible story but he hasn't been over promoted: in his brief career he has scored in big games and clearly has a huge future. Why not get him in the squad now and let him show what he can do? England need five strikers, including Sturridge who deserves his place, because Hodgson's selection gives us a big clue about his tactical plans...
Axing Townsend removes one of the genuine wide players England had in their squad; Raheem Sterling and Adam Lallana are arguably the only ones remaining. That surely points towards Hodgson using a 4-4-2 diamond formation, with a No. 10 in behind two strikers, although Rooney and Vardy could play wide if required.
