Wayne Rooney starts with the knowledge that a solitary goal will see him climb above Sir Bobby Charlton in England’s top scorer charts, with the pair tied of 49 international strikes.
Raheem Sterling and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are tasked with feeding their skipper from the flanks.
Toffees trio Ross Barkley, John Stones and Phil Jagielka all make way – the latter two in a central defensive reshuffle with Gary Cahill and Chris Smalling – with Jamie Vardy the other man to miss out after starting in Saturday evening's 6-0 rout of San Marino.
England have already qualified after winning all seven of their qualifiers in Group D.
England XI: Hart, Clyne, Smalling, Cahill, Shaw, Milner, Shelvey, Delph, Sterling, Rooney, Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Switzerland XI: Sommer, Lichtsteiner, Klose, Rodriguez, Schär, Inler, Xhaka, Behrami, Stocker, Drmic, Shaqiri.
