A hat-trick from Harry Kane and two strikes from Erik Lamela – one a world-class effort – helped Tottenham thrash Asteras Tripolis 5-1 in the Europa League Group C clash at White Hart Lane.
The England Under-21 International got the ball rolling with a long range strike on 13 minutes and then helped himself to a tap in on 75 minutes before completing his hat-trick with a bullet header on 81 minutes to make it a comfortable night for the North London side.
Lamela’s first goal defied belief as he kicked behind his standing right leg to curl the ball past the despairing keeper Tomas Kosicky on 29 minutes for his first goal of the season.
His second, a volley from a tight angle that beat the Polish keeper at the near post, sealed a perfect night for Maurico Pochettino’s men, who saw Hugo Lloris dismissed late on and Kane concede a comedy free-kick from Jeronimo Barrales after Spurs had used all of their substitutes.

Where did Lamela find the confidence to attempt a Rabona? The Argentine came in for fierce criticism for his meek display against Manchester City, but still decided to risk further derision when attempting a hugely ambitious shot. As it turns out, it flew in and we’re all delighted it did.
