Who made YOUR country's Team of the Season?

Each week, Opta award footballers a rating out of 100 for their contributions to that weekend's games based on their stats for possession, passes, shots, blocks, saves, errors and more.

And with the season over in all but a few major top flights, they have racked up an average rating for everyone across the campaign.

From there, they have named the goalkeeper, four defenders, four midfielders and two strikers with the highest average player rating to their 'Team of the Season'.

We warn you in advance that specific roles - defensive midfielder, right-back, trequartista etc - are not taken into consideration. Four defenders, four midfielders, two forwards, one keeper. That's it.

With that in mind, here are the sides, beginning with the Premier League:
