"They have beaten us twice earlier in the season, so we are looking to get a win against them this time around," the 21-year-old England hopeful. "We are capable, we have got the ability and the players."
Boro were victims of Charlton's rip-roaring start to the season - with a 3-0 home defeat in August - before slipping to a 2-1 loss this month in London.
"The first time we played them, it wasn't a very good performance from us," admitted Downing. "For the game earlier this month, which we lost 2-1, you could say we rested a lot of players.
