Alex Ferguson has admitted that Gary Neville is losing his battle to be fit in time for the FA Cup final. The Manchester United skipper is set to miss the Wembley showdown against Chelsea with an ankle injury, with Ferguson rating his return as "doubtful"

"He's up against it. He'll have to do some serious work next week. Whether it will be soon enough, I have my doubts," said Ferguson.
United are over the worst of their injury crisis, with Neville the only member of Ferguson's first-choice back line unavailable.
If he misses out, Wes Brown will deputise at right-back and Ryan Giggs will take the captain's armband.
Ferguson might be tempted to indulge in a spot of kidology regarding Neville's fitness, with his Chelsea counterpart Jose Mourinho fond of ruling his players out only to play them.
Mourinho has given Ricardo Carvalho a one percent chance of featuring on May 19, but few would be surprised to see the defender walk out at Wembley.
