Mark Lawrenson: Mario Balotelli 'an absolute waste of time'

BBC pundit Mark Lawrenson has described Mario Balotelli as an “absolute waste of time” in an attack on the Liverpool striker.

Balotelli was a second-half substitute as Liverpool drew 0-0 at home to Blackburn Rovers in their FA Cup semi-final on Sunday.

His arrival failed to transform Liverpool’s fortunes and his contribution was questioned by some supporters.

However, the greatest criticism came from former Liverpool defender Lawrenson, who pulled no punches in his assessment of the striker.

"Forget about Mario Balotelli," said Lawrenson. "He is an absolute waste of time. He shouldn't be anywhere near this team.

"I can see why Brendan Rodgers threw him on today as he might just create something, but 99 times out of 100 he will let you down."

Not everyone was impressed by Lawrenson's view, though.
