Nottingham Forest boss Dougie Freedman hopes to sign two more players before the start of the season.
The Reds get the new Football League campaign under way when they get their Sky Bet Championship challenge up and running against Brighton at the Amex Stadium on Friday night.
Freedman, working under restrictions imposed for the club breaking Financial Fair Play rules, wants a couple of new faces in the squad for the trip to the south coast - but he has emphasised the need for quality not quantity.
"I only want to work with quality, I only want to work with good players," Freedman told the Nottingham Post. "I could go and sign a striker tomorrow, very easily. I can show that I can do that.
"But I do not want players who want to be here for the wrong reasons. I might leave myself short, in those forward positions, in the short term. But I believe that is the best way to be, if we do get the players we want.
"I will keep working on this until they either sign for us or sign for another club; I will keep on top of them. These are the two players I want. I have another option, waiting in the wings. But these are the two players I want to see make happen.
"They are the right age and have the energy that is required to be part of this team.
"I will fight for a player; I want to do that. I could take a player tomorrow morning that nobody else is fighting for.
"Some fans like to sign a player to please fans or even to sell a few season tickets.
"I am saying that I have a few players up my sleeve, but I have to be patient. If you want to buy a season ticket, then great.
"But I have to do what is right for this club in the long run. I have to make sure we are out of this embargo and that we have a balanced squad."
