The former full-back turned television pundit took exception to a headline on the Mirror that described the manager of his former club, Jose Mourinho, as “a dud”.
But the outspoken expert didn’t stop there, replying to a number of responses from fans with his belief that United are performing better this season than under either of the club’s previous two managers.
Manchester United's 1-1 draw with Everton on Sunday means they are 13 points off the top of the table after 14 games of Mourinho's tenure, while the draw means the Old Trafford club have tied six matches this season - a joint league high.
United's tally of 19 goals scored is the lowest in the top seven, while Tottenham, Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester City and Southampton all have superior defensive records.
Neville has previously criticised the way the media have reported his comments on Twitter, but made sure there was no room for misunderstanding in his Monday morning tweets.
