Harrison confident of progress

TNS will look to capitalise on last week's 2-1 away victory against B36 Torshavn of the Faroe Islands in the second leg of their Champions League first qualifying round at Park Hall.

The win was the Welsh side's first ever in the competition but TNS director of football Craig Harrison is confident his side have all but secured their passage into the second qualifying round where Hungarian champions Videoton FC await.

"I am very confident that we can progress after picking up a great result away from home last week," he said. "To go away from home in Europe is always difficult so to get a win was a magnificent.

"I firmly believe that we can score a goal at Park Hall which will put us in a great position."

Elsewhere, Crusaders FC will travel to Estonian champions Levadia Tallinn hoping to make amends in their Champions League first round qualifier after last week's goalless draw in Belfast .

Despite a successful 5-2 triumph over FK Ekranas in last season's Europa League qualifying round, Stephen Baxter's men could make history as a win could seal their first passage into the Champions League second qualifying round.

Crusaders striker Jordan Owens said: "It meant a lot to the club to progress in the Europa League last season, but it would be an even bigger achievement if we managed to make it through a round of the Champions League."

Albanian champions Skënderbeu Korce will face the winners.

The last British side to feature in European action will see Shamrock Rovers pitted against FC Progres Niederkorn on Tuesday night after last week's stalemate in the first leg of their Europa League first qualifying round.

Pat Fenlon's side will be hoping the Tallaght faithful can roar their team to victory against the Luxembourgian outfit and Hoops striker Mikey Drennan believes their unbeaten home run this season will hold them in good stead.

""It was very hot over there, which was tough for the lads, but I thought the 0-0 was an okay result for us, even if we probably should have got the win," said Drennan.

"We're bringing them back to Tallaght now though, where we're unbeaten this season, so we're more than hopeful we can get the win."

The winners will face FC Copenhagen.
