Mexico forward Nery Castillo has dropped out of the squad for two friendlies in the next week because of personal problems, coach Hugo Sanchez confirmed.
Castillo, who has had three countries chasing his services, has stayed in Greece and will miss Sunday's game against Paraguay and the meeting with Ecuador three days later.
"Nery Castillo did not get on the flight because he has personal problems and these problems are understandable," Sanchez told the Radio W station.
"As his arguments were convincing, I told him not to worry and to sort the problems out as quickly as possible."
Castillo, 22, was born in Mexico of Uruguayan parents and raised in Uruguay where he began his career with Danubio as a 15-year-old. He moved to Greece one year later to join Olympiakos.
Mexico and Uruguay both tried to persuade Castillo to play for them two years ago but the player said he needed more time to decide. Greece were also reported to be chasing him.
He was called up by Mexico for a friendly against the United States in February but did not play.
