Renard famously upset the odds when leading Zambia to glory in 2012 thanks to a penalty shoot-out victory over Ivory Coast.
Three years later, he was instead leading Ivory Coast to glory themselves, with a 9-8 penalty shoot-out win over Ghana bringing the title to the Elephants.
So you could forgive him for getting rather excited.
So excited, in fact, that he stripped off in Bata to lead the celebrations.
"We dedicate this win to the Ivorian people," said Renard. "Football has this magic element in that it unites all the ethnic groups - all the people who perhaps don't think the same way.
"Ivory Coast is more than delighted today and that's the most important thing."
